Salvador Dali Art Laguna Beach California

While Dali is best known for his impressive works on canvas, the artist also created specific works to be used as templates for limited edition original lithographs, etchings, engravings and mixed media art.

Pop Art

What is Pop Art?

The term Pop Art is a result of "popular culture" and media. Andy Warhol used well known images used in advertising or on the labels of products to created hand pulled serigraphs that were produced in a limited edition run.

Pop Art continues to be popular among all age groups because it not only represents popular culture but in many cases represents vintage popular culture which is also a trending subject on websites like Pinterest and similar.

KAWS

Brian Donnelly also known as KAWS is referred to as "an American graffiti artist"

Due to the artist's popularity, he has amassed almost 4 Million Instagram followers.

The artist is known for creating works referencing Kanye and a host of other subjects including Covid. The artists works have been used in fashion or toys and other mediums. His works fetch high prices at auction. You can see an example of his work for sale here.

Rare Japanese Film images from the 1960s Vintage Black and White

We own a collection of rare Japanese film images from well know Samurai films of the 1960's. These are the films that inspired so many American films like The Magnificent Seven that was based on a previous film called "Seven Samurai". There are no other collections like this one, we have the original photographs with photographer stamps on the back. Some are stamped with the name of the film and the actors and there are notes from one of our past relatives who was tasked with reviewing these films for the American audience.

You have probably heard the name Toshiro Mifune who was a well known Japanese Actor who also worked on some American films as well. You will notice that some of these vintage images feature films sets that look almost exactly the same as the sets used in the Tom Cruise film The Last Samurai.

Picasso

Pablo Picasso is one of the best or the best known artist in history along side the greats like Rembrandt and Raphael, all of these masters enjoy continued long term respect for the works and atmosphere they created by using works of art.

Picasso worked in a number of different mediums, you will find original works on canvas created with ripolin, an oil based enamel.

Ripolin is a generic term used in France for "oil paint".

In addition to oil paintings, Picasso worked in other mediums, you can find examples of etching, engravings and a variety of print forms such as lithographs, but there were quite a few works used in creating ceramics and more including sculpture.

Mixed Media abstract art Los Angeles

One of the most talked about abstract mixed media artists in Los Angeles is a talented artist named Clara Berta. Clara's works have been used in TV shows and commercials like the Super Bowl commercial with Jason Momoa. You can also see her works on a popular show called Two Broke Girls.

Interior designers love Clara's works because of the use of colors and the textures and fluid style of the works.

One million dollar Russian art vandalized by security guard

Art News: 2/9/22

A Russian security guard was found to have vandalized a Soviet-era avant-garde painting by drawing eyes on its faceless figures using a ball point pen.

The art was insured for one million dollars. When asked why he did it, he said it was because he got bored. It was his first day on the job.

Irvine Art Gallery

There are very few if any art galleries in Irvine, the bulk seem to be in surrounding areas. There is a gallery at the Irvine Spectrum but that is the only one of note.
